How engagements with CTO 2.0 work

You hire a named CTO. We agree the scope in writing, then we do the work. This page is how that runs, and what makes the job larger or smaller.

Engagements

Three ways to hire us.

Each one has a named CTO. When the work needs more hands, Maxiom engineers do it under that CTO.

01

Technical due diligence

Who it's for

Investors, acquirers, boards, and founders who need a technical read before a deal or a raise.

What's included

One CTO reads the code, who can change it, how customer data is handled, how releases ship, and which vendor and license obligations travel with the company.

Length

One review. It ends when the readout is written. It is not an ongoing seat.

What you keep

A written list of risks, and the engineering time to fix each one.

02

Fractional CTO

Who it's for

Founders and operators who need a senior technical owner and do not have a full-time CTO.

What's included

Architecture, security posture, vendor and contractor reviews, senior hires, and the technical roadmap. Your team keeps the day-to-day tickets.

Length

Ongoing monthly leadership. The same CTO each week, with a written check-in each month.

What you keep

The decision log, the roadmap, and the monthly reports. They stay with you if you stop.

03

Stalled project rescue

Who it's for

Founders and execs whose build is late, stuck, or no longer matching the plan.

What's included

One CTO reads the code, the team, and the plan, and writes down what is actually true.

Length

One review. It ends with a written call to get the work moving, or to stop. A rebuild, if you want one, is a separate decision.

What you keep

The readout, and a next step you can act on.

Effort

What shapes the scope

There is no fixed menu. The scope follows the product in front of us. These are the things that make the effort larger or smaller. We write them down before we start.

The start

How we start

You see the scope in writing before kickoff.

  1. 01Step 1

    Intro call

Book a time. We talk about the product, the team, and what you need. You get a yes or no on fit.

  2. 02Step 2

    Scoping

We write what is in and what is out. You mark it up before the work starts.

  3. 03Step 3

    Written proposal

You get the scope, who does the work, the cadence, and what you will keep.

  4. 04Step 4

    Kickoff

An NDA comes first. Then access, and the first working session.

Who the CTOs are

Three CTOs. One engineering team behind them.

Meet Maxiom
FAQ

Straight answers.

Do you work with our existing team?

Yes. We work with the people you already have, including an agency or contractors. We replace them only if you ask.

Can we start small?

Yes. A due diligence review or a rescue read is a complete engagement on its own. A fractional CTO seat can start as advising. Hands-on work is added only if you want it.

How do we end an engagement?

You tell us. A review ends when the readout is delivered. A monthly seat ends when you stop it. The documents are yours either way.

Do you write code?

When the scope is advising, the CTO decides and writes, and your team writes the code. When the scope includes hands-on work, Maxiom engineers in Ashburn, VA do that work under the CTO.

Do you certify compliance?

No. We are not auditors. We do not certify security or compliance.

How do we start?

Book a time. It is a 30-minute call about the product, the team, and what you need. You get a clear yes or no on fit.
